Our goal is:

  • To represent members in the development of B.C. as a captive domicile
  • To provide a forum for the professional development of all members
  • To generally promote the B.C. captive insurance industry

  • To support this mission statement, the British Columbia Captive Insurance Association ("BCCIA") will:

    • Review and comment on government-proposed legislative changes;
    • Provide a forum for the professional development of all members, through training sessions and industry updates;
    • Make recommendations to regulators regarding changes to the legislation that would enhance the attractiveness of the domicile.

      What is a "captive"?

    According to Tillinghast, the publishers of Captive Insurance Company Reports, a captive is "A closely held insurance company whose insurance business is primarily supplied by and controlled by its owners, and in which the original insureds are the principal beneficiaries."

    The day to day operations of the BCCIA are directed by the elected Executive Committee:

           Chair: Don Rose (604) 443-2486
           Deputy Chair and Treasurer: Bill Morgan (604) 443-2478
           Deputy Chair: Kevin Day (604) 683-4001
           Deputy Chair: Christine Young

      If you have any questions regarding the BCCIA or would like to enquire about membership, please contact any member of the Executive Committee. Membership is open to any individual with an interest in B.C. captives.
