Our
goal is:
To represent members in the development of B.C. as a captive domicile
To provide a forum for the professional development of all members
To generally promote the B.C. captive insurance industry

To
support this mission statement, the British Columbia Captive Insurance
Association ("BCCIA") will:
- Review and comment on government-proposed legislative changes;
- Provide a forum for the professional development of all members,
through training sessions and industry updates;
- Make recommendations to regulators regarding changes to the
legislation that would enhance the attractiveness of the domicile.

What
is a "captive"?
According to Tillinghast, the publishers of Captive Insurance
Company Reports, a captive is "A closely held insurance company
whose insurance business is primarily supplied by and controlled by
its owners, and in which the original insureds are the principal beneficiaries."
